Preparing for Sunday: June 3, 2018

Church Family,

This Sunday we will celebrate 80 years of the Lord’s faithfulness to our church. It was 1938 when Raymond and Winona Riggs started proclaiming the gospel on Brush Street in Detroit, urging people to repent of their sins and trust in Christ for salvation. By God’s grace, we are still proclaiming that same gospel today.

To help us celebrate, I’ve invited Pastor Rob Morgan to join us. Pastor Rob was the Lead Pastor of The Donelson Fellowship in Nashville for many years until recently when he became the Teaching Pastor, allowing him more time to travel to speak and preach. He has written numerous books and has been used by the Lord greatly over his ministry. It is an honor to have him with us. For a more thorough bio of Pastor Rob, see his website here.

There are three ways you can interact with Pastor Rob this Sunday.

1. Come to our combined Sunday school class at 9:45 where Pastor Rob will be teaching “Reclaiming the Art of Biblical Meditation.” Children’s classes will continue as normal, but teenagers and all adults will gather in the Maranatha Room for this class.

2. Hear him preach in our worship service at 11 am. He will be preaching from the book of Colossians.

3. Pick up a book from Pastor Rob that we will be making available for free to the first 75 adults. There will be nearly 60 copies of Reclaiming the Lost Art of Biblical Meditation and 15 copies of 100 Verses Everyone Should Know by Heart. These will be available in the Gathering Place at any time on Sunday. (Please, only one per person. Also, please do not take one to give to someone who is not attending.)

As a final note, don’t forget to bring food for our potluck lunch afterward! Bring your food downstairs when you arrive and be sure to give yourself enough time to be ready for class at 9:45 and worship at 11, depending on when you come.

Anticipating a great day together,
Pastor Jacob
